Electria Wind: a new leader in medium-power wind energy technology.

Electria Wind’s CEO, Santiago Nistal, has announced the creation of this new company which has emerged from a partnership between two leading companies in the renewable energy field: EOLINCYL and ELECTRIA

Both, completely convinced with the increasingly important role that the renewables will have in combined energy and its great contribution to the environment, have decided to join their professional experience and technology with the aim of becoming World leader in medium-scale wind power.

As Santiago Nistal explained, “Electria Wind is the result of a firm joint commitment in a new segment that has a myriad of possibilities of development: medium-scale wind power. This alliance will allow us to increase the capacity of technological development, provide more know-how to the market, improve performance strategies and take on innovative projects with future guarantees

A New Concept for Harnessing Wind.

Nistal has highlighted that “We are now facing a new stage where our aim is to spread the use of one of the greenest energy sources, making it affordable for those who want to contribute to renewable energy by installing turbines in remote location far from electrical transmission grids and with very low to moderate winds.” In Nistal’s opinion, it has to do with making the so called “distributed generation” a reality, taking advantage of all the potential that distribution grids offer.

Garbí 150 and 200: 100% Spanish Innovative Technology.

In order to obtain the full force of the wind, Electria Wind will continue to work on the development of a new innovative line of wind turbines based on the well know multiple synchronous variable speed technology: Garbí 150/28 and Garbí 200/28.

This powerful turbine is specifically indicated for areas with weak electrical grids, where generating power next to points of consumption is more appropriate. The fact that they can be easily transported, the quality in power to size ratio and the possibility of connecting them to low capacity grids will allow them to take advantage of all the wind’s resources. An additional asset is that large investments are not required for their installation, thus, making them a more affordable option for smaller investors.

At present, final performance tests are being carried out on the prototype on a site near Valladolid. Furthermore, the Company has begun to manufacture an additional eight units and shall finalize before year-end, integrating said units in two of the company’s own promotional wind farms. The first orders placed shall be delivered between the months of January till March, 2010.

Top Priority Markets.

On a short-term basis, the company will focus on meeting the need of national market demands, in the Mediterranean area and the East of Europe. The following stage the Company’s aim is to expand their presence in every market where the GARBÍ model meets general acceptance.

This new product will allow many countries and regions that are now faced with numerous difficulties the possibility to opt for wind power, at a “crucial” moment for the sector where renewable energy will play an important role.
